One of the ways we promote
recreational boating safety is by our Vessel Safety Check Program. Auxiliarists
across the country conduct thousands of VSC’s each year. The auxiliarists who do
these checks are well trained and knowledgeable. These checks are free and done
only at the requests and with the consent of the boat owner. To pass the check,
the vessel must satisfy federal equipment requirements. We also cover other
recommended, but not required safety equipment. If your vessel does not pass, no
report of the failure is made. Instead, you will be informed what you need to
correct the deficiencies, and the Auxiliarist will return at your convenience to
redo the examination.
We conduct VSC’s at boat clubs, marinas, special events, and on an individual
basis.
